New Training on How to Open a Bakery Business
We love cake. And we love to bake.
No, that’s not the start of a poem. . .but we do! It all started with our childhood in a very food-focused, family centered upbringing. Then later, we used those baking skills to get us through stressful careers. Then we started our business.
We started our business with no formal pastry training and no money to put into the business. We never got loans or investors.
So many people put their dreams on hold because they think they need to follow the traditional steps they are made to believe are the only path to owning a business. So they wait. They wait for the “perfect time”, enough money and something magical to happen. We get it—-you have to pay the bills. We know all about scraping money together to do that. We also know you can’t up and quit your job and open a business on wishes and prayers. We aren’t implying that. We are simply suggesting that if you have a dream you figure out what it will take to make it become a reality—-because tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us.
That’s what we did. We really wanted to own a business together and we wanted to bake. So we made that happen.
Did we tell you how long it took? It took many years. But we made a plan, we worked on that plan every day and eventually we were able to reach our goals. We decided not to wait for the perfect time. We didn’t have enough money to do it. Nothing magical occurred. It was all us—-working 18 hour days on our dreams, every single day of the week.
Now we know. We know what works and what doesn’t work. We know what we should have done and what we shouldn’t have done. We know this world so well. That’s why we want to help others. We want to help people who have a dream and don’t have the roadmap. The people who have a burning desire to change their life. The ones that want to spread joy with food but don’t know where to start.
